Course Summary
This online course for sports officials is aimed at empowering you to bring the ‘ease’ back into officiating.
With ReferEASE, you'll work through situations of confidence, concern and conflict and, for each, share some tips and tools for interacting effectively with coaches, parents, and athletes. The online course balances theory with real-life experiences and tips from sports officials and experts.
It includes:
- Easy tips for creating a positive first impression,
- Specific words to avoid when giving instructions… and the key phrases you can use to get things to go your way,
- A closer look at “the brain on sports” and why people lose their cool,
- A constructive approach for deflecting verbal abuse and threats,
- Some strategies for taking a stand against racism on the ice, floor, or field,
- Plus, proven tools that drive a positive environment of confidence for all!
This online course was originally for Sport Manitoba in Canada and the different sport organizations it serves. It is now available for all sports officials!
